Volunteering as a Coach with the Arcadia Booster Club
The Arcadia Booster Club is fortunate to have a strong and dedicated group of volunteers who are eager to contribute their time and energy to coaching young athletes. However, due to the high level of interest, not everyone who volunteers is guaranteed a coaching position. The selection process is ultimately decided by the Vice President of each sport, who carefully considers several factors to ensure the best possible experience for all children involved.
How Coaching Selection Works
- Availability of Coaching Spots While we greatly appreciate all volunteers, coaching positions are limited. Simply signing up to volunteer does not guarantee a coaching role. The Arcadia Booster Club is fortunate to have more interested volunteers than available positions, making selection a competitive process.
- Background Check Requirement For the safety of our young athletes, all coaches must successfully pass a background check before they are allowed to take on a coaching role.
- Commitment to the Booster Club and Children Coaching is not just about leading a team; it’s about fostering a positive environment that supports the overall mission of the Arcadia Booster Club. Volunteers should prioritize the well-being and development of all children in the program, not just those on their team.
- Demonstrating Good Role Model Behavior Coaches serve as mentors for young athletes, and their behavior both on and off the field matters. Community behavior that exemplifies sportsmanship, integrity, and a positive influence is an essential factor in the selection process.
- Returning Coaches Have First Right of Refusal Coaches from the previous season who have no disciplinary issues, have consistently demonstrated positive role model behavior, and have shown commitment to the Booster Club’s mission and the well-being of all children will be given the first opportunity to return for the next season. Their experience and familiarity with the program are valuable assets that help maintain consistency for the teams.
- For soccer specifically, returning and new coaches must also obtain a SafeSport certificate in compliance with safety and protection standards.
Final Decision
The Vice President of each sport makes the final decision on all coaching assignments based on the criteria listed above. While we appreciate every individual who expresses interest in volunteering, our priority is to ensure that our young athletes receive guidance from responsible, experienced, and committed mentors.
We encourage all those interested in coaching to remain involved with the Arcadia Booster Club in other capacities if a coaching spot is not available. Your dedication and support help make our program a success!
